-DECEMBER SELECTION CONTEST WINNER-
A huge congratulations goes to Amanda Leahy - December's Book Club contest winner! Amanda answered all three contest questions correctly - see below. For the December Book Club selection, TransportiCA chose The Death and Life of Great American Cities, by the late, yet still amazing, Jane Jacobs.
The contest questions for December's selection were:
1. According to Jacobs, Death and Life was meant to be an attack on what? Current city planning and rebuilding.
2. At the time of publication, Jacobs wrote about the myth that what amount of money spent could wipe away all slums within ten years? $100,000,000,000.
3. What area in Boston is referenced by Jacobs as the city's worst slum and civic shame? The North End.
Again, congrats to Amanda, and we wish her all the best with her continued education of sustainable transportation!
