The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition board plays a critical role in establishing the organization's policies, annual budget, and strategic plans, as well as fundraises to further LACBC's work and mission. The board develops policies in the areas of governance, administration, finance, personnel, public relations, and strategic direction.
LACBC promotes bicycling for transportation and recreation to a diverse bicycling community (low-income, commuter, recreational, families, and women) through advocacy, education, and outreach throughout Los Angeles County’s 88 cities. We welcome board nominations from individuals of all backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives, and seek regional representation.
Responsibilities of LACBC Board members include:
Create LACBC’s mission statement and review it periodically for accuracy and validity. Fully understand and support the organization’s mission on an ongoing basis.
Fundraises on behalf of the organization.
Act as a steward for the organization by promoting the mission of LACBC and increasing the community’s awareness and support of LACBC’s work.
Attend orientation, training, and other board development activities, including attending retreats.
Serve in leadership positions and undertake special assignments as needed.
Suggest nominees for the board to the Board Governance/Nominations Committee.
Speak on behalf of the board in an official capacity only when asked to do so by the executive director or president of the board.
Please note that the slate of nominees will be approved by the Board Governance/Nominations Committee, and then submitted to the full Board for a vote at LACBC Board Meeting in June, and in December 2016.
