Silicon Valley Bike Summit 2016: Tickets Selling fast!
TransportiCAwill be covering this event.
Please join us at the 6th Annual Bike Silicon Valley Summit, the region’s largest gathering of active transportation leaders and organizers from government, law enforcement, non-profit, and the public.
We are excited to focus on the following issues: • Keynote speaker: Kate White, Deputy Secretary for Environmental Policy and Housing Coordination, California State Transportation Agency will discuss the new vision for transportation through recent goals for biking and walking and efforts to incorporate equitable outcomes in their programs and policies. • The (California) State of Bicycling: Caltrans will discuss the latest and greatest policies, plans, and guidelines for bikeway design in the state as well as Bay Area examples. • Protection, A New Class of Bike Lanes: Case studies of protected bike lanes and protected intersections near and far. • Toward Vision Zero: 2016 Update: How are cities and counties implementing and what has been accomplished? • People Powered Placemaking: How to create innovative projects big and small that encourage more people to bike, educate people on different types of bike infrastructure, and engage the community.
For the first time, we are also holding nominations for several awards:
Public Official of the Year – is there a city staff person whose efforts go above and beyond to ensure safe and comfortable bicycling? Maybe an elected official has stood up for people biking or a county staff person has really pushed things forward?
Infrastructure Project of the Year – bike lane (buffered, green, or protected), bike bridge, bike boulevard, bike box, etc.
Non-infrastructure Project of the Year – education and encouragement plans that shift the needle to get more people on bikes
