Are there any blackout dates?
Yes, this service will not operate on the Wednesday – Sunday of Thanksgiving week or the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Del Mar Races Opening Week.
Why are NCTD, Amtrak and Caltrans offering this program?
It is a very cost-effective way to add more rail service for our customers without the expense and scheduling issues of adding more trains or crew members. With the support of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), NCTD will pay Amtrak $4.28 for each passenger who rides one of these select trains. Remember, you will not pay any more to ride these trains – simply present any valid COASTER fare media and enjoy your trip!
