On Saturday & Sunday, July 30 & 31, Caltrain will operate a roundtrip charter train on behalf of the 38th Annual Gilroy Garlic Festival.
Passengers traveling southbound to the garlicky celebration should take Train 422 to the San Jose Diridon Station, which arrives at 9:53 a.m. From there, a special Garlic Train will depart Diridon at 10 a.m. and will get riders to the Gilroy Caltrain Station at 11 a.m.
On the return trip, one northbound Garlic Train will depart the Gilroy Station at 5 p.m., arriving at the Diridon Station by 6 p.m. From there, passengers can hop on Train 443 to take them to their destinations up the Peninsula.
Garlic Festival attendees can purchase a Caltrain day pass or one way ticket for their trip to San Jose at the ticket vending machines located at stations or by using their Clipper card. Attendees will need to purchase a ticket for the charter trains separately. Those tickets are being sold in advance at gilroygarlicfestival.com through Eventbrite. The charter train ticket includes shuttle service to and from the Gilroy station to the festival, and includes festival admission. Charter train tickets will not be sold the day of the event.
