Silver Line All-Door Boarding Eblast

Beginning June 26, 2016, Metro will be testing All-Door Boarding along the full Silver Line route. This pilot program has the potential to significantly speed up the boarding process. When Metro tested All-Door Boarding on the 720 Rapid Bus last year, passenger boarding took only half as much time!   Similar time savings are expected with the Silver Line testing.

Here’s how to speed up your commute:
Get a TAP card.

  • During the program, all Silver Line passengers will be required to have a valid TAP card. Get yours at taptogo.net, by calling 866.TAPTOGO, at over 400 vendor locations or at TAP vending machines located at all Metro rail and Orange Line stations.

Board at any door.

  • TAP bus mobile validators will be placed inside the bus at both doors. Tap the validator with your card, wait for the green screen to verify that your card is valid and enjoy the ride.

Don’t have enough fare on your TAP card?

  • Board the front door of the bus and tell the operator you need to reload your TAP card. The operator will instruct you to tap your card at the farebox, insert cash, then tap again.
