President Obama said he would nominate Blair Anderson, now deputy administrator at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, to become undersecretary for policy at the Department of Transportation.
Anderson moved into NHTSA's number two post last August, after serving during 2013 to 2015 at the USDOT as deputy assistant secretary for finance and budget.
In that period, the White House announcement said, he was also acting chief financial officer and assistant secretary for budget and finance from April 2015 to August 2015.
Before that, Anderson was the USDOT senior adviser for budget and programs from April 2013 to October 2013.
Earlier, Anderson was senior adviser to Rep. John Olver, D-Mass., from 2009 to 2013, and was Olver's legislative director from 2007 to 2009.
